30 Weeks!!! I can’t believe there is finally a THREE in front of my weekly number. For some reason I feel like there is a huge difference between telling people I am 3# weeks along versus 2# weeks along. And wow, what a difference 10 weeks can make! Surprisingly, I have been feeling really good these past couple of weeks and am just going with the flow of pregnancy…. for now!
Baby is now the size of: A large cabbage. Approximately 3lbs and 15.5 inches long.
Total weight gain: Did not weigh myself.
Maternity clothes / preferred attire: Dresses, shorts, and loose tops. All day every day.
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping really well lately. My cat keeps waking me up around 5am which is kind of annoying, but perhaps he is in tune to what is going on and preparing me for early morning wake up calls?
Plus, when you travel with the snoogle (or the Great Wall of China, as my husband likes to call it), you can sleep well anywhere.
Cravings and favorite foods: I haven’t had any major cravings this week. In fact, food has been kinda blah for me. Nothing ever “sounds good” but I can eat it. I haven’t had much of an appetite but perhaps that is because I have a growing child that is squishing my stomach (among other things). Also, Justin was out of town for a few days of work meetings in Los Angeles, so I didn’t have my personal chef and kept meals pretty simple as a result.
Food aversions: No aversions this week.
Exercise: Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, Justin and I went out for a couple runs, along with a long walk along the beach. It felt good to run at sea level and in the cooler temperatures. Running in the heat right now doesn’t fair well with my body.
I was also able to get in a nice swim on Tuesday before the thunderstorms rolled in. I only swam 1400yds, but it still felt like a great workout. The buoyancy and aerodynamic issues of the belly and additional 20 pounds definitely make swimming more challenging, along with the occasional leg and foot cramps. They just won’t stop!
Mood: This was a great week and I felt happy 95% of the time. There was a moment after my shower when I felt a little overwhelmed by all the stuff (and not knowing what to do with it) but I’m hoping that’s normal.
Symptoms: Surprisingly, I had no real symptoms of pregnancy this week. Feeling good!
Missing: Riding my bike. I really REALLY want to go on a long ride and remember what it’s like to have some time in the saddle.
Best moments this week: The entire week/weekend at the Sugar Shack with family was wonderful. I was able to relax and really enjoy the down time. It makes me feel good to see everyone so excited about the little life inside me. I have a lot of love and support from the people in my life.
Interesting Pregnancy Moments: I am finally starting to get recognition from other women and moms about my bump, and strangers are starting to talk with me a lot more about my new role as a mother. As my husband commented, I am now part of a very large and lifelong mom’s club!
Best Quote: “He’s already a runner.” – Justin referring to the baby’s constant kicking and movement. He seems to go on several “runs” each day, with intense spurts of activity that feel like there is a little treadmill inside of me that he is working out on.
Worst moments this week: I experienced a pretty heavy bout of anxiety right after our shower last week. It came out of nowhere and was in response to all of the gifts we had received. We were beyond showered with love and received so many wonderful gifts for our little boy. I got really emotional about it and then started to wonder how I am going to do it… be a mom… take on a role I have 0% experience with… use all of these gifts when I didn’t know what half of them were.
Buying: I didn’t need to buy anything this week because I received a million gifts at my baby shower. Our nursery furniture finally arrived, so Justin and I have a big project ahead of us this weekend!
Oh wait, I did buy these a while back as a gift for Justin as his first official Father’s Day gift and as a hint that he’ll be changing a lot of diapers. We’ve been warned several times about getting “sprayed” when changing a boy’s diaper. Hopefully these will help! ☺
Dreaming About: What our little guy is going to look like. Dark hair, light hair, thick hair, no hair? Pouty lips, thin lips? Brown eyes, blue eyes? I can’t wait to see his face!
Also dreaming about what his name is going to be. We know the middle name (Joseph, which was my dad’s middle name, is Justin’s dad’s middle name, and is my grandpa’s first name), and obviously the last name, but have yet to settle on a first name. We have a short list of names picked out and the few people we have shared them with seem to be pretty opinionated one way or the other. One of these days soon I’ll have to share them on the blog and get your honest thoughts/feedback!
