I am officially back in training mode. After two weeks of almost no running (patting myself on the back for that one) I made my way out this morning for an easy 10 miler. Running at base pace was just what I needed to spark a little motivation and fire. No expectations or pressure to run a certain speed. Because my body is still not 100 percent, I was careful to listen and just enjoy myself.
Justin and I have had a lot of down time lately. With Justin in a cast for two more weeks, we remain pretty limited in what we can do. Let’s just say there has been a lot of lounging and Netflix, which I don’t mind at all. We are completely hooked on Dexter (don’t ask what season we are on – the answer is kind of embarrassing) and I am now committed to making these cookies in honor of our new friend Dex.
When we are not watching a serial killer kill other serial killers, we are usually glued to The Voice, Amazing Race, The Walking Dead, Shark Tank, and football. Every time I watch Shark Tank I am convinced that I need to invent something that everyone needs. Any suggestions? There must be something you need that hasn’t been invented yet…
If any of you are watching the new season of Survivor, please root for Josh and Missy. Justin and I are in a character pool and the person whose character wins Survivor gets to take home all the cash. It would be perfect timing right before Christmas. Plus, I like to win.
Last week we went and saw Gone Girl. Sadly, I did not read the book before seeing the movie (I wish I had) so for all of you who DID read the book beforehand… whoa!!! I imagine it was extra interesting and “shocking” seeing the book come to life in the theater. The movie was great! It left me feeling a bit uneasy and uncomfortable, but I’m guessing that is what the writer and producers were going for. Well done.
The one movie I can’t wait to see is Wild. I absolutely loved the book and can’t wait to see my girl Reese play the role of Cheryl Strayed. Plus, they filmed a lot of the movie in Central Oregon like this scene here… look familiar?
I have been making good use of all of the extra time I have had these past two weeks while in recovery mode. I was able to reorganize my closet and pull all of my winter clothing out of storage. Heartbreak, I know. I also cleaned out my office and got it all prepped for winter training. There will be many many hours spent on the trainer during the winter months, therefore a bright room and visually seeing my accomplishments really helps to keep me motivated.
Did anyone see this floating around the Internet? As someone who has a lot of introverted tendencies (I consider myself an extravert/introvert mutt) I completely relate to this. I love my hamster ball. I think this is one of the reasons I enjoy blogging so much – I get to connect with others, but in a non-energy draining way.
I’ve started working more outside of home and find that I am more productive when I spend a few hours with my latte, spinach feta wrap, and laptop at our local Starbucks. It’s nice to get out of the house and work around other people. Plus, the coffee shop is a great place to people watch. I am really enjoying teaching my two classes this term on Motivation and Close Relationships, and have been learning a lot from my students. The online teaching environment definitely works both ways in that regard. There are a lot of exciting changes that are happening with our program in the next year and I am glad to be a part of it!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Are you more of an extravert, introvert, or mutt (like me)?
What is your favorite book that has been turned into a movie?
