Training: This was my first “official” week of IM 70.3 training and I am feeling pretty good about where I am at both physically and mentally. This week I was able to swim at a new-to-me pool where I fell in love with the length and size of the lanes, and depth of the water. It made swimming a completely different experience for me compared to my “usual” pool.
I finished the week with a total of 3 hours in the pool, 2.5 hours on the trainer, and 1 hour on the treadmill. I feel fairly good about this given that I was out of town over the weekend and did not get to do any physical activity on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
Wine Tasting: Three of my girlfriends and I headed up to Walla Walla on Friday for a weekend of wine tasting and birthday celebrations. Even though the weather was cold and somewhat snowy, it was so fun hopping around to different wineries, going to dinner, and watching chick flicks while wrapped in blankets.
Some of the highlights of the trip included barrel tasting with Justin Wylie (the winemaker) at VaPiano, having a Mardi Gras moment at Amavi, discovering a new winery and tasting room at Zerba, spotting a bald eagle with Gordy at Walla Walla Vintners, and meeting new friends at Five Star Cellars.
When I arrived home I was immediately greeted by my husband, who had cleaned the house and put a balloon and several cards that I had received in the mail on display. It was a wonderful surprise. I have such thoughtful family and friends. I can’t believe I am going to be another year older TOMORROW!!!
